Ugly Cousin

The moth is considered to be less beautiful than a butterfly, but is that true?
While observing I saw something that looked like a butterfly but after doing further research I found out that is wasn't a butterfly but a moth. I was a little taken back by this because I thought moths only came out at night. During my research I found many moths that look way better than butterflies but the moth that I saw was the typical ugly moth that most people see, the forage looper moth.

I personally don't like bugs and bugs that fly just make my fear worse. The fact that this moth can grow bigger than a quarter sounds pretty scary. There really isn't anything interesting about this moth, it eats grasses. Compared to the other moths I saw I can easily say this is one of the less flashy moths out of the rest. The color of the forage looper moth is dull and boring. This moth can be a zombie like form of a butterfly. I would hate to be the butterfly whose mother tells them to go to prom with this cousin.

Hard Worker

The robin that has been coming to my lawn has been a regular visitor. I have even decided to give the robin a name, I've named him Robin Hood. I had trouble deciding if Robin Hood is a male or a female but I did some research and found out that my robin is a male. A male has much more brighter colors than a female does, a female has much more duller colors than a male.

I got more curious about the mythology about robins so I did a little a digging around the internet and I found that the native Americans see the robin as "can do birds." Robins have great work ethic as some tribes say. For some tribes the color of the robin's breast is a sign of fire.

Robin Hood comes around three in the afternoon but then leaves in a few minutes. Seems like he's getting food but I don't know if its for him or if he might have a nest around my house with babies inside. At times Robin Hood doesn't leave the yard unless he finds something. If Robin hood does have babies I would be a little jealous because their father is there for them unlike mine but i have a great stepfather that can represent Robin Hood as a "can do person."
